Brought in my father's old Seiko 5 that had been sitting in a drawer for about twelve years. I did not know what to expect — whether it was even worth repairing. Razif assessed it, gave me a clear quote, and returned it running within tolerance. The before-and-after timing sheets were a nice touch. I had not expected that level of documentation.

I needed a sapphire crystal replaced on my Tissot. Several places quoted me without looking at the watch. Cogveil asked me to bring it in, assessed the fitting, confirmed the right part number, and showed me a sample before they ordered anything. The whole thing was done in four days. Straightforward, no pressure.

Sent a vintage Longines in for the full restoration programme. The turnaround was longer than I initially hoped — about eight weeks — but the progress photographs kept me in the loop throughout, and the finished piece was genuinely impressive. The printed record that came with it is something I have kept with the watch.

I am fairly particular about which workshops I trust with my watches, having had mixed experiences elsewhere. Cogveil stood out because the assessment was thorough and the communication was clear — I never had to wonder what was happening. The movement came back well regulated and the summary included the readings I actually needed.

The crown on my watch had been loose for months and I kept putting off dealing with it. Cogveil replaced both the crown and stem, and included a light case clean that I had not asked for but appreciated. Quick, clearly priced, and honest about what the work involved. I will use them again.

I came in with an old Swiss pocket watch that I had inherited — not an especially valuable piece but one I wanted working again. They were upfront that parts sourcing for that particular calibre would take some time. It did — about seven weeks in total — but it arrived back running well and looking as original as it should. No corners cut.

Three pieces, three stories

Challenge

ETA 2824 running +45 seconds daily

An owner brought in a mid-range Swiss dress watch that had been running far fast for about a year. The movement had never been serviced. Previous attempts at regulation elsewhere had not held.

Solution

Full movement service with balance overhaul

The movement was fully disassembled. The hairspring had a slight deformation that had gone unnoticed. After cleaning, it was carefully corrected, the escapement was reset, and the movement was fully reassembled with fresh lubricants.

Result

±4 seconds daily across 6 positions

The timing readings after service showed consistency well within acceptable parameters. The owner received the before-and-after comparison. Duration: 2.5 weeks.

"I had almost given up on having it regulated properly. The difference is significant in daily use."

Challenge

1960s Omega with deteriorated dial and seized crown

A collector piece inherited from a grandfather — the crown would not pull and the dial showed surface oxidation. The owner wanted it restored sensitively rather than refinished to modern standards.

Solution

Vintage restoration with dial stabilisation

The calibre was carefully disassembled, cleaned ultrasonically, and reassembled. The crown and stem were sourced from a specialist supplier. The dial was stabilised rather than cleaned — preserving its aged surface as the owner had requested.

Result

Fully running, character preserved

The movement returned to good running order. The dial retained its patina. A printed service record was included. Duration: 7 weeks including parts sourcing.

"It looks exactly as it should. Not over-restored. It is still recognisably my grandfather's watch."

Challenge

Cracked acrylic crystal on a daily-wear Seiko

The owner had knocked the watch and cracked the acrylic crystal across one corner. The movement was fine. They simply needed the glass replaced cleanly with a period-appropriate material.

Solution

Acrylic crystal sourced and replaced

The correct acrylic flat crystal was sourced for the case diameter. The owner was shown the part before fitting and confirmed they did not want an upgrade to mineral glass — maintaining the original specification.

Result

Repaired and returned in 3 working days

The crystal was fitted cleanly with no visible gap. A brief condition check confirmed the case seals were still intact. The watch was returned within the quoted timeframe.

"Exactly what I wanted — the right glass, no fuss, no upselling."
