Three programmes, each matched to the piece
From a standard movement service to a full vintage bench restoration — the right programme depends on the watch and what it needs. We will guide you to the best fit.
Back to HomeHow the bench works
Every programme at Cogveil follows the same underlying process: careful assessment first, agreed scope second, work third. We do not begin until we have a clear picture of what the piece requires, and you have agreed to the plan.
What changes between programmes is the depth of the work, the time it requires, and the level of documentation involved. A standard service is focused and efficient. A vintage restoration is open-ended in a different way — we follow the piece wherever it takes us, at a pace dictated by the work rather than a deadline.
Intake & assessment
Photographs, condition notes, and an initial inspection to understand what the movement requires.
Scope & quotation
A written quote is agreed before any work begins. Scope is fixed unless we find something unexpected, in which case we discuss it with you first.
Bench work
The movement is serviced according to the agreed programme. All work is performed in-house by the same technician throughout.
Verification & handover
Timing is verified on the machine. Documentation is prepared. The watch is returned with a full summary of the work performed.
Mechanical Movement Servicing
RM 1,850
A careful, in-house service of mechanical watch movements, covering cleaning, lubrication, and rate adjustment. The team works on a wide range of common Swiss and Japanese calibres, restoring smooth running for daily wear. Each piece is documented, with before-and-after readings shared with the owner. Includes a written summary of the work performed.
What is included
- Full movement disassembly into component parts
- Ultrasonic or hand cleaning of components
- Re-lubrication with calibre-appropriate oils
- Balance and escapement regulation
- Timing machine readings (before and after)
- Written service summary returned with the watch
Crystal & Crown Replacement
RM 520
Replacement of cracked or worn crystals — acrylic, mineral, or sapphire — and damaged crowns. Components are sourced from established suppliers, and a short walk-through of the chosen part is shared before work begins. Light cosmetic refinishing of the case is included where appropriate.
What is included
- Assessment of crystal type and case fitting
- Sourcing acrylic, mineral, or sapphire crystal to fit
- Crown and stem assessment and replacement where needed
- Light case finishing where cosmetically appropriate
- Water resistance check after fitting
- Part selection walk-through before any fitting
Vintage Bench Restoration
RM 4,600
An extended bench programme for owners of older mechanical watches who want their pieces brought back to good working order. Covers full disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, parts review, dial conservation, and reassembly with period-appropriate methods. Progress photographs are shared at each stage, and a printed service record is delivered with the finished piece. Recommended for heirloom timepieces and longer-term collector projects.
What is included
- Full disassembly with documented component inventory
- Ultrasonic cleaning of movement and case components
- Parts review with sourcing from specialist suppliers
- Dial conservation using period-appropriate handling
- Reassembly with era-appropriate methods and lubricants
- Progress photographs at each significant stage
- Printed service record delivered with the finished piece

Best for
Movement Service
Watches that are running but due for a service, or pieces that have been sitting unworn for several years.
Best for
Crystal & Crown
Cosmetic damage to a watch that is otherwise running well — cracked glass, a scratched crystal, or a crown that no longer pulls correctly.
Best for
Vintage Restoration
Heirloom pieces, older collector watches, or any timepiece that warrants careful and thorough attention to return to working order.
Technical standards we hold to
Piece security
All watches in our care are logged, stored securely, and insured against workshop risk. Intake and collection are documented.
Calibre-matched lubricants
We use watchmaker-grade oils matched to the specification of each movement, not a single multipurpose oil applied across all pieces.
Timing verification
After every movement service, results are measured on a calibrated timing machine across multiple positions. Readings are shared with the owner.
Water resistance check
For water-resistant cases, gasket integrity is checked and the case pressure-tested to its rated specification before handover.
Written scope agreement
No work begins without a written quotation agreed by the owner. Any changes to scope discovered during work are discussed before proceeding.
Single-technician accountability
One technician handles each piece from intake to collection. No handoffs, no subcontracting. The same person knows the full history of the work.
